How Pathway Careers International collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1Who we are

Pathway Careers International (“Pathway”, “we”, “us”) is a recruitment, training and career development business based in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. We connect people with career opportunities and provide businesses with recruitment and customer-service support. Our website is www.pathwaycareersintl.com.

Under POPIA we are the “responsible party” for the personal information we collect, which means we decide why and how it is used.

2What personal information we collect

What we collect depends on how you deal with us. It may include:

  • Identity and contact details: name, email address, phone number.
  • Career information: CV, qualifications, work history, skills, interests, career goals and references.
  • Training and work-integrated learning records: attendance, assessments, progress and placement details.
  • Employer and partner details: business name, contact person, role, email and phone number, and your hiring needs.
  • Messages you send us: contact form entries, enquiries and correspondence.
  • Website data: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and cookie data (see section 7).

We do not ask for special personal information (such as health, religion, race or criminal records) unless it is needed for a specific purpose, and then only where POPIA allows it.

3Why we use your information

We use personal information only for purposes connected to our work, and only where you have consented, where it is needed to deal with your request or a contract, where the law requires it, or where it serves a legitimate interest that does not unfairly affect you. These purposes are:

  • registering you and assessing your skills, interests and career options;
  • matching you with opportunities, training, work-integrated learning and employers;
  • delivering and recording training, coaching and placement support;
  • serving employer and partner clients, including recruitment and customer-service support;
  • replying to your enquiries and sending updates you asked for;
  • reporting on our work in a way that does not identify you where possible;
  • keeping our systems secure and meeting legal and regulatory duties.

We collect only what we need, and we will not use your information for a purpose that is not compatible with the reason we collected it, unless you agree or the law allows it.

4Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed:

  • Employers and clients, when you apply for or are considered for an opportunity, and with your consent.
  • Training, education and work-integrated learning partners involved in your development.
  • Authorities and advisers, where the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.

5Keeping your information safe

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, damage, unauthorised access and unlawful processing. These include [for example: access controls, password protection, secure hosting, restricted staff access, confidentiality agreements].

If we have reason to believe your information has been accessed or acquired without authority, we will notify the Information Regulator and, where we can identify you, you, as soon as reasonably possible, as POPIA requires.
